I agree with your comments on immersion--at the beginning level a phrase sounds like a an endless stream of unintelligible syllables like this line from The Absent-Minded Professor: estoyintentandoresolverlosmisteriosdeluniversoseñorachatsworthy fallé.

But if you know ahead of time:

estoy: I am
intentando: trying :: intentar: to try
resolve: to solve
los: the (pl)
misterios: mysteries :: misterio: mystery
del: of the
universo: universe
señora: Mrs.
y: and
fallé: I failed.

...it will sound like:

Estoy intentando resolver los misterios del universo, Señora Chatsworth, y fallé.

And you will understand this:

I'm trying to solve the mysteries of the universe, Mrs. Chatsworth, and I failed.

We help people learn Spanish vocabulary from TV shows, novels, YouTube videos, etc. using this approach. About 20% of the site is free.

I hope this helps.
